Cookie Policy

1. What Are Cookies?
"Cookies" and similar browser storage technologies (such as localStorage and sessionStorage) are small pieces of data stored in your web browser when you visit a website. They allow a site to remember information about your visit — such as your preferences and past activity — so that it can work correctly and provide a better experience on return visits.
Cookies can be "first-party" (set by the site you're visiting) or "third-party" (set by an external service embedded on the page, such as an analytics provider).
2. Cookies and Storage This Site Uses
Peehole Sounding uses a minimal set of cookies and browser storage. These are:
Essential (first-party)
cookie-consent— Stored in your browser's localStorage (not a traditional cookie). This records your response to our cookie consent banner so that we don't show it to you on every page load. It stores a simple value indicating whether you accepted or declined. No personal data is associated with this value.
Analytics (third-party)
All third-party analytics tools below are loaded only after you accept our cookie consent banner, and only in the production environment. If you decline or have not yet responded to the banner, these tools are not loaded and set no cookies or storage.
- Google Analytics 4 (GA4) — When loaded, Google Analytics sets its own cookies (typically
_gaand_ga_<container-id>) and collects aggregated, anonymized traffic data to help us understand how visitors use the site (pages viewed, time on page, general geographic region, device type). We use this data only to improve the site. - Microsoft Clarity — When loaded, Clarity sets its own cookies (typically
_clckand_clsk) and uses browser storage to record aggregated behavioural analytics such as anonymized session replays, heatmaps, scroll depth, and click patterns. We use this data only to diagnose usability issues and improve the site. Clarity does not collect the content of form fields, and we do not use it for advertising or cross-site tracking.
We do not use advertising cookies, remarketing pixels, or cross-site tracking.
3. How to Disable Cookies
You can control and delete cookies in several ways:
- Decline via our banner — When you first visit, our consent banner lets you decline analytics cookies.
- Clear localStorage — You can clear the
cookie-consentvalue at any time via your browser's developer tools or site-data settings. The banner will then reappear on your next visit. - Browser settings — All modern browsers let you view, block, or delete cookies for individual sites or globally. See the help pages for Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge.
- Opt out of Google Analytics — You can install the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on to prevent your data from being used by any site running GA.
Blocking or clearing essential storage (like the cookie-consent key) may cause the consent banner to reappear, but will not break the site.
4. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes to the cookies or storage we use, or for legal or operational reasons. The date at the top of this page reflects the most recent update.
